Sim Racing Cockpit Deals
Sim racing cockpits come in a wide variety of designs and styles. Often known as sim rigs, cockpits are designed to be a central point to mount all of your sim racing products to. Sim rigs and cockpits allow you to mount a racing wheel along with your pedals and a racing seat. This creates an all-in-one base for you to sim race from.
Sim rigs range from small and compact wheel stands that can be folded and stored away when not in use, to larger metal framed cockpits that are permanently set up. Thicker and sturdier cockpits cater for more premium and high-end racing wheels and pedals to be used whilst limiting vibrations and flexing.
These sturdy sim rigs often utilise aluminium profile or thick metal tubes to add rigidity. A more rigid sim rig will allow you to better feel the force feedback that is generated from your racing wheel. If a sim rig flexes and vibrates during use, this will take away from the force feedback, making it trickier to feel how your car is behaving in relation to the track surface.
Which sim racing cockpit brands are best?
There are a good number of sim rig brands around, giving sim racers a very wide choice of which brand to choose. Some of the most popular sim racing cockpit and sim rig brands include GT Omega, Sim-Lab, Trak Racer and PlaySeat to name just a few.
Each of these brands has a wide range of different sim rigs from budget-friendly and compact wheel stands through to premium and sturdy 8020 sim rigs (named because of the 80x20mm aluminium profile that is often used). Some brands even have partnerships with big racing teams and car manufacturers to supply them with high-quality sim racing cockpits. Sim-Lab in particular are partnered with Mercedes-AMG F1 team.
While the best place to find sim racing cockpit deals is often directly through each brand’s website. There are plenty of resellers across Europe, the United States and Asia which also sell sim rigs from the brands mentioned above. Amazon is one of the most popular resellers, with deals often available on brands such as PlaySeat and Next Level Racing.
Whilst Amazon is a great general place to find a variety of sim rigs and cockpits, more specialist websites such as RaceAnywhere are dedicated sim racing resellers who run their own promotions throughout the year.
How often are sim rigs and cockpits on sale?
Each sim rig manufacturer runs deals throughout the year at different times. The most common time of year to find discounted sim rigs is around Black Friday. During this period, most sim racing brands, including sim rig brands have sales and offers. However, you can also find sim rigs at a discounted price at other times of the year.
The best way to track sim rig deals is using SimRacingDeal.com. This platform aggregates the best and most up-to-date sim rig deals all in one place. We collate deals from various sim rig manufacturers, letting you compare the best deals in one place, without having to check multiple websites.
What sim racing cockpit deals are there?
Looking at historic discounts on sim rigs and racking cockpits, brands including Sim-Lab, Trak Racer, Next Level Racing and GT Omega have all run promotions throughout the year.
Trak Racer has discounts including 30% off their sim racing cockpit selections, giving you a great opportunity to purchase one of their high-end aluminium profile sim rigs or tubular rigs such as the Alpine TRX. They aren’t the only sim racing brand to have good promotions.
GT Omega often runs discounts and deals throughout the year, including their recent discounts on the ART cockpit and a range of racing seats and gaming chairs. Sim-Lab doesn’t run as many sales as other cockpit manufacturers. However, recent Sim-Lab promotions include a whopping 50% off sim rig accessories.
Frequently asked questions
Below are a few commonly asked questions that we often get asked about sim rigs and cockpits. Hopefully, these answers and the sim rig deals above will make shopping for a new sim rig or wheel stand a little easier.
Which brands sell wheel stands?
There are a large variety of different sim racing brands to choose from when shopping for a sim rig. Popular brands such as Sim-Lab, Next Level Racing, PlaySeat and GT Omega offer a wide range of cockpits. Outside of these brands, there are a huge number of other sim rig brands including Trak Racer, RSeat and more.
Are wheel stands strong enough for direct drive racing wheels?
Wheel stands inherently aren’t as strong as all-in-one sim rigs and cockpits due to their collapsible nature. However, some wheel stands can be incredibly sturdy whilst also having the adaptability that a wheel stand offers.
Some of the best wheel stands like those from GT Omega can support direct drive racing wheels up to a certain strength. Smaller direct drive wheel bases like the Fanatec CSL DD and MOZA Racing R12 are ideal for wheel stands. Whilst more powerful racing wheels like the Fanatec DD2 and Simucube 2 Ultimate won’t fair as well if mounted to a wheel stand.
