Sim Racing Pedal Deals
Sim racing pedals are a crucial part of any sim racing setup. However, despite this, there is far less choice when it comes to buying sim pedals as there is when shopping sim racing wheel deals. Most sim racing brands offer at least one set of sim racing pedal, with some like Fanatec and Thrustmaster offering a few different options across a range of budgets.
However, as you increase your budget, a lot more sim racing pedal options become available. There are a fair few specialist high-end sim racing pedal manufacturers including Heusinkveld, Asetek, Sim-Lab, SimCraft and more. Many high-end sim racing pedals opt for a hydraulic solution to best mirror real-world race cars. Another choice for pedal technology is the use of a load cell to measure the pressure on each pedal.
Different types of sim racing pedal
Like sim racing wheels, there are different types of sim pedals, with a few different technologies in use. Budget racing pedals normally opt for a potentiometer solution which utilises magnets to measure the distance of pedal travel. This is by far the worst way to measure pedal movement as there is no measurement of the pressure that is exerted on each pedal, specifically the brake.
Mid-range pedals and some higher-end pedals use load cell sensors. These are much better than potentiometer pedals due to the load cell measuring the pressure on the pedal. This allows for more consistent braking over time, letting sim racers build up muscle memory.
Finally, at the top of the tree, you’ll find hydraulic sim racing pedals. These are always the most expensive options as they utilise hydraulic chambers much like a real-world car. This style of sim pedal allows for the most realistic feel during braking.
Frequently asked question
Can you use different sim racing pedals with other brands?
If you’re sim racing on PC you can mix and match your equipment meaning you can use a combination of different brands for your pedals and racing wheel. However, if you’re sim racing on a console like Xbox or PS5, you are restricted to using pedals and racing wheels from the same brand.
Where to find sim racing pedal deals?
Sim racing pedals are available from a range of retailers and resellers. You can often find Logitech and Thrustmaster pedals on Amazon, usually at a good price, and often discounted.
Another good place to shop for sim racing pedals is on individual brand’s own websites. Sim racing brands like Fanatec, Logitech and Asetek sometimes run their own promotions and sales at different times throughout the year, which can result in the best price for sim racing pedals.
